This article will be a basic tutorial on how to write C++ code. This article is not intended to teach you the basics of C++. Instead, this article assumes that you have prior experience with C++ and want to learn more about the details of how to write a program in C++. There are 5 steps to write C++ code for beginners. These steps are:
1. Choose a text editor
2. Write your code
3. Compile your code
4. Run your code
5. Fix any errors that you may encounter
In this article, we will quickly go over each of these steps so that you can begin writing C++ programs right away!
Learning a new skill, especially one that requires practice, can be intimidating. One group of people who are often intimidated by learning to code are artists. The idea of writing code and making art might seem like two completely different activities with separate skillsets and goals. But don’t be intimidated! There are many ways to use coding to create artwork, and it is easier than you’d expect.
I’m going to describe the 5 steps I took when I was teaching myself how to code in C++ for the first time using OpenGL. If you haven’t heard of OpenGL before, it’s an application programming interface (API) for graphics. It allows you to render 2D and 3D graphics in a window or on full screen using low-level commands directly to the graphics card’s driver software.
C++ is an object-oriented language that also has procedural features from C. For this tutorial, you don’t need to know anything about C++ or object oriented programming (OOP), but if you do know about OOP then great! In this tutorial, I will include the source code so that you can copy it into your own project and run it yourself.
Start with the basics. This is going to be a tutorial on how to write C++ code for beginners, so you’ll need to have a basic understanding of what coding is and how it works. If you’ve never coded before, you might want to take some time to get familiar with the concepts.
