codespaces Code Documentation

Code Documentation: A blog explaining the different products and services codespaces offers.

At codespaces, we have a mission to get people coding. We offer a variety of services and products to help you do just that. Here’s a list of what we currently offer:

Coding Workshops: Learn coding skills with one-on-one tutorials or group workshops in your community.

Bootcamp: Start from scratch and learn how to code from our industry experts at our immersive bootcamp.

Code Mentoring: Get personalized feedback on your coding projects from a professional programmer.

Code Documentation: A blog explaining the different products and services codespaces offers.

In most cases, code documentation is done through docstrings: blocks of text explanations inserted as a first statement in a function/class/module.

Docstrings are usually used to provide a description of what the code does and how to use it, but they can also contain some useful information about parameters, return values, exceptions raised, etc. The following example shows a docstring for the pow() function:

def pow(x, y):

“””Calculates x to the power of y”””

return x ** y

In this case, the docstring simply describes what the function does – but it could also be used to describe what arguments it accepts (and their types), what exceptions it can raise, or even how to use it.

In general, docstrings should follow these guidelines:

Keep them short and meaningful

No more than 80 characters per line (see PEP 8)

Use triple double quotes (“””) – single quotes (‘ ‘) will not work

Add a newline before and after your docstring if it takes more than one line (see PEP 257)

The purpose of this blog is to introduce you to codespaces and our products and services. Codespaces is a company that provides tools for other businesses to design, build and debug their code.

We offer three services: documentation, development and deployment. You can use all three to develop a website from scratch or take an existing website and overhaul it. We hope you find our products useful.

Documentation: Our documentation includes tutorials on how to use our products, a FAQ section that answers common questions, and a glossary of terms.

Development: Our development services include a code editor with debugging tools and access to other open-source projects.

Deployment: Our deployment services allow you to host your code on our servers or integrate it with your existing infrastructure.
