Visual Basic.NET is a computer programming language. It’s an object-oriented language and it can be written in something called a text editor.
Hello World At this point, we are not going to go into the nuts and bolts of the Visual Basic language or its syntax. But, we are going to write our first Visual Basic program.
Our first program is called “Hello World.” The idea behind Hello World is that you get to make your first program which basically does nothing but when run will display “Hello World” on the screen.
So, let’s create a new project inside Visual Studio .NET:
1) Go to File -> New Project and choose Visual Basic Projects from the Templates pane on the left side of the dialog box that pops up.
2) Choose Console Application from the list of templates in the middle pane of the dialog box and give it a name like MyFirstProgram or something similar (no spaces allowed).
Choose location for your project (anywhere you like) and click OK
